Exclusive Interview with Adam Kaiser

So there’s this student named Adam and we think he’s kind of fantastic. We’re so glad the One Student community will soon get to know Adam through his writing. For now, we’re hoping this interview will hold everyone over for a bit…

Interview with Adam: Are you majoring in the area you thought you would?

No, not at all.  I originally came to college planning on majoring in Business Administration and Spanish.  That quickly changed to Accounting because it came easily to me, however after much I thought I decided that I could not see myself as an accountant for the rest of my life.  That lead me to Marketing and I have loved it ever since.

If someone came to visit you in your hometown, where would you take them?

If someone came to visit my hometown I would take them to the Broomfield water towers.  They sit at the highest point of the front range and from there you have one of the best views of the mountains in the entire state.

What is a little known fact about you?

A little known fact about me is that I make sure to wear some article of plaid every day.  Whether it is my shirt, shorts, or my unmentionables, I always am wearing plaid somewhere.

What holiday or annual event do you most look forward to celebrating?

The event I look forward to most throughout the year is the Fourth of July.  The weather is always amazing and it is a great time to meet with friends for a picnic.  Also, who can argue with fireworks?  They are awesome, end of story.

Do you know someone who has been sexually assaulted?

Yes, I know multiple people that have been sexually assaulted.  Some of them are among my closest friends.  Hearing their stories makes me even more passionate about sexual violence prevention.

If they made a movie about your life, what actor should play you?

If there was a movie made about my life I would want Vince Vaughn to play me.  He is tall and has an affinity for plaid just like me.  Also, Morgan Freeman would narrate.

Why do you think sexual assault is so common on college campuses?

I think sexual assault is so common on college campuses because it has become an acceptable part of the culture.  Students have begun to believe that sexual assault is just something that happens, and that they have no way of changing that.  What students need to realize is that everyone has the power to change this, especially when we all work together towards that change.

What is your favorite word?

My favorite morpheme is any one that can beguile people to envisage that I am more acute than I actually am; simply because I can use large words in a sentence.

What is the one thing you would most like to change about the world?

I would like to change the apathy that is so rampant in my generation.  As our world grows into a larger more globalized society; it is easy for young people to feel like they can’t change anything, so they should accept the status quo and follow everyone else. What young people need to know is that we are the agents of change in today’s society and we have the power to make the world what we want it to be.

If you could have one super power, what would it be?

If I had one super power I would choose the ability to move metal with my mind, similar to Magneto in the X-Men series.  The only difference is I would use my powers for good…and so I could change the T.V. station without having to look for the remote or get up from the couch.

 Coffee or tea?

Hot coffee, cold tea-depends on the weather
